Very interesting to me that most of the machines in Ultrakill showcase clear signs of character and emotions.
Drones are described as curious by nature. Streetcleaners have an inherent obsession with keeping everything clean, even through flame. Mindflayers are obsessed with a useless plastic body (pop off girl bosses). V2 especially shows a LOT of character, with its playful attitude and clear jealousy towards V1.
You know the only machines that DON’T show personalities? V1 and Sentries (yes there’s the weird text thing with V1 and the hank skulls, but those are so vague and the Hank interactions are probably not canon).
You know what those two machines have in common over all the other machines? They were made specifically for war.
All the other machines were made for security or to do a service such as cleaning. Therefore, they were made with human characteristics because they were meant to cooperate with humans. Meanwhile, the war machines have no purpose for human personality traits because they are just meant to kill.
Just thought this was an interesting detail.
